Copying a whole article is known as plagiarism, doing this means that you added content illigally and is also unfair to the original authors who wrote the page in their site. You cannot copy a whole article and paragraph from Wikipedia or another website.

Copying Wikipedia Or Other Sites

You cannot copy a whole article or paragraph from Wikipedia or another site. Doing this shows that you are unoriginal and cannot write a good article without copying from Wikipedia or another source. The reason why we enforced this policy is so that Songpedia won't be a useless duplicate of Wikipedia. Only 2 sentences are allowed to be copied from Wikipedia and should be cited, if you really need to copy a paragraph from Wikipedia you MUST write it in your own words. Doing this can lead to 2 warnings/reminders, then for further offences will lead to several blocks, and the more you do this, the harsher the block will be. Also, if the user is known to cause trouble in the wiki, harsher blocks will be given.

Note: Articles copied from Wikipedia that where created before June 27, 2011 won't be deleted but will be re-written by a volenteer

Citing Ciopied Sentences

Citing is an important part of a wiki, whenever you copy and paste needs to cite it for it to be legal and fair use, not citing an article means that the content was added illegally. If you are going to copy a sentence from another source, you MUST credit the source and link to the article by citing or else the content will be taken off and you will receive a warning, then a block if you keep doing it.

How To Cite

  • Type this at the very end of the copied content: <ref>[http://website_where_you_got_content_from/page_where_got_the_content_from]</ref>
  • Type == References == at the bottom of the page, then press ENTER in you're keyboard then type <references />.
